European stocks falling

European stocks fell on the opening of trading today on ongoing concerns over the uptick of COVID-19 in Europe and rising risk aversion deriving from the US presidential elections.

The Eurostoxx 600 fell for the third consecutive session by 0.50%, the DAX by 0.67%, the CAC40 by 0.7%, and the FTSE by 0.9%.

US stocks ended modestly higher yesterday on progress in a new round of talks on a fiscal stimulus package to combat the economic fallout from the pandemic.

White House representatives and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi both said enough progress was made on Tuesday to justify further talks today, with the goal of voting on a package on before November 3rd.
