What are cryptocurrency CFDs?
Cryptocurrency Contracts for Difference (CFDs) let traders speculate on digital currency price movements from the moment a position is opened until it’s closed. You can take long or short positions based on your market outlook, all without directly owning the coins. With leverage, crypto CFDs allow you to open larger positions with a smaller initial deposit, amplifying both potential gains and losses. All cryptocurrency CFDs with Equiti are available on the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platform for fast, secure trading.
Which cryptocurrency CFDs can I trade with Equiti?
With Equiti, you can trade cryptocurrency CFDs through two account types. The Premier Account offers access to all cryptocurrency pairs with competitive spreads, and a commission applies on trades. The Standard Account allows trading on all Tier-1 cryptocurrencies with leverage of up to 1:100. Pairs including BTC/USD, ETH/USD, XRP/USD, ADA/USD, SOL/USD, and BNB/USD are commission-free, while other crypto pairs are subject to a trading commission.
Where can I trade cryptocurrency CFDs?
You can trade cryptocurrency CFDs on MetaTrader 5 (MT5) using either a Standard or Premier account.
When can I trade cryptocurrencies?
Cryptocurrency CFD trading hours are as follows (GMT +3): Sunday to Friday: 00:01 – 23:59, Saturday: 00:01 – 08:30 and 12:30 – 23:59, daily rollover (swap) break: 23:59 – 00:01, leverage maintenance window: 16:59 – 17:01 (Eastern Time).

What’s the difference between trading crypto CFDs and trading actual cryptocurrencies?
When trading cryptocurrencies directly (like Bitcoin or Ethereum), you buy and own the actual coins through an exchange, storing them in a digital wallet. You pay the full value upfront and profit only if prices rise.
With cryptocurrency CFDs, you don’t own the asset, you speculate on price movements instead. You can go long or short, use leverage to hold larger positions with less capital and benefit from both rising and falling prices. However, leverage also increases potential losses, so risk management is key.
How does margin work on Crypto CFDs?
Margin is charged as shown in the table above.
We increase the margin to 5% for our Group 1 cryptocurrencies starting one hour before our maintenance break on Saturday morning, and this remains in effect until the end of the break.
Also note that we charge margin for cryptocurrencies on a ‘larger leg’ basis. This means that if you are partially hedged, margin will be charged on the larger position. For example, if you are long 0.5 BTCUSD and short 0.2 BTCUSD, margin will be charged on the 0.5 BTCUSD long exposure. If you are fully hedged (equally long and short), margin will only be charged on one side.
What commissions will I pay when trading crypto?
If you have a Standard or Classic account, you can trade BTCUSD, ETHUSD, XRPUSD, ADAUSD, SOLUSD and BNBUSD without any commission.
All other cryptocurrencies have a commission of 8 bps on Standard accounts and 10 bps on Classic accounts.
On Premier accounts, all cryptocurrencies are available with our tightest spreads and a 4 bps commission.
